Pizza Race is our first board game!
To celebrate its release, the rats have gotten together to introduce themselves and their world.
Below, you’ll find Rat introductions, a tour of their city, and some of the game’s early assets and ideation sketches for your viewing pleasure.

MEET THE RATS!!!
-
SAUSAGE
As the only one in the group with a subway pass, Sausage is best known for his chronic rule following. Thankfully though, he draws the line at paying for his pizza. (He finds the NO RATS sign at the door rude enough to warrant the theft.)
-
OLIVE
Being the fastest rat in the city has its perks, and Olive would know. Despite being the shortest rat in the roster, she’s a 12-time champion of the Pizza Race, and she takes her pizza thievery very seriously.
-
PEPPERONI
Pepperoni knows the city better than anyone. He’s the one who founded the Pizza Race and the one who trained all the best rats in the art of pizza theft. Although admittedly, his expertise in navigation is… limited above ground.
-
HAM
The youngest of the rats and the newest to the pizza-stealing gig, Ham is the group sweetheart and doesn’t quite understand yet that the goal is to get the pizza home first before eating it…

A rat’s guide to the city
Theorattus park
The city’s best (and only) park. It’s a great place to go for a picnic or a swim on a hot day. It can also be an excellent shortcut… or an easy way to get lost if you don’t know your way around.
THE PIZZERIA
The place where it all begins, where all perilous pizza races start. They have the best pizza in the city (and quite possibly the world).
Their only fault? They hate rats.
THE RNN
Your number one reliable news network. Contrary to popular belief, the “R” does not stand for rat.
They do give live updates on the pigeon activity in the city, however. (Which the local rats do like to tune in for.)
Apt. 70
Known among the city’s rat population as “The Ratpartment Building,” Apt. 70 is the only rat-friendly apartment building in the city. The rats that live here love rooftop parties, making it the perfect finish line for every pizza race.
Signs all rats should know:
Warning: Pigeon
If you see this sign, it’s already too late for your precious pizza. Rats who encounter this sign in a pizza race are robbed of their dinner by pigeons and forced to go back to The Pizzeria to begin the race again.
Oops… Wrong Turn
Getting lost happens to the best of us, especially in a city as big as this one. Rats who see this sign have officially gotten turned around and must retrace their steps until they see familiar territory again.
Theorattus Park entrance
This sign is posted at the two entrances of Theorattus Park. Entrances that are also coincidentally the two exits of said park. The exclusion of this fact from the signs can often confuse the pizza race contestants, sending them farther away from home.
Gone Fishin’
Tragedy is a common occurrence in the great pizza race of life, and this was put up to warn the local rats of the terrible fate puddles can cause to pizza slices. If you do lose your pizza slice to a puddle, prepare to spend a whole turn fishing it back out.
Glue trap
As the name implies, rats who stumble across this sign are now stuck in a glue trap. Thankfully, their pizza is stuck with them… but they will be stuck there together for a while until they roll their way out or another rat sacrifices themselves to save them.
Subway Station
Scattered all over the city, these signs alert passerby to the presence of a subway waiting to be taken just below their feet. Lucky rats often use these subways to get through the city faster, jumping from station to station, pizza in hand.
Not enough rats for you?
Very impressive. Lucky for you, we have plenty more rats to offer you in our other game: Rubber Duck’s Great Escape.
